In June of 2009 Rockland was named as one of Maine’s Main Street Maine communities, part of the National Historic Preservation Trust’s model dedicated to historic preservation, and community revitalization. Rockland Main Street, Inc. is the organization working to preserve our working waterfront, lighthouses, islands and historic Main Street.

Our Mission

Rockland Main Street, Inc. is a nationally accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit that represents a focused partnership of residents, businesses and local government to enhance and protect the unique sense of place and economic vitality of downtown Rockland, Maine.


    Economic Vitality

  • The Economic Vitality Committee helps sharpen the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruits compatible new businesses and new economic uses to build a commercial district that responds to today’s consumer needs.

  • The Organization Committee gets everyone working toward the same goal and assembling the appropriate human and financial resources to implement a revitalization programs. Volunteers are coordinated and supported by a paid program director.
